The learned Judge Mr. ANM Morshed Khan of the learned Special Judge Court Noakhali in the judgment promulgated on 19/09/2022 A.D. the sole defendant in the case Srivas Chandra Dey, dismissed Post Master, Dattapara, Sub Post Office, Chandraganj, Laxmipur, Father- Narayan Chandra Dey, Mother- Shivani Rani Dey, Permanent Address- Glam Radhapur, Post Office- Radhapur, Police Station- Laxmipur Sadar, District- Laxmipur was convicted under Section 409 of the Penal Code of 1860 and sentenced to 05 (five) years rigorous imprisonment and 25,00,000/ - For conviction under Section 420 of the Penal Code with a fine of Rs. 01 (one) year rigorous imprisonment and a fine of Rs. Punished with a fine of Rs. The sentences awarded against the accused shall run concurrently.

As the accused was present in the learned court during the promulgation of the verdict, he was sent to Noakhali District Jail on the basis of the sentence warrant.

Brief description of the incident:

Accused Srivas Chandra Dey 06 (six) received Rs.38,27,000/- from depositors and recorded it in the passbook but did not deposit it in the public treasury, fraudulently committed criminal breach of trust under section 409/420 of the Penal Code including 5(2) of the Prevention of Corruption Act, 1947. A charge sheet was filed in the learned Court by Mr. Sobel Ahmed, Assistant Director, Anti-Corruption Commission, Integrated District Office, Noakhali with the approval of the Commission for committing an offense punishable under Section.
